Introduction
Open Popup lets the coding agent you already use build popups for your site.
You tell your agent what you want, for example “a newsletter signup after 10 seconds”. It builds the popup, gives you a link to tweak it in the browser, and publishes it. You add one script tag to your site, once, and every popup you make after that shows up on its own.
Open Popup is open source under the MIT license, and you can host your own copy.
What you get
Your agent talks to Open Popup through an MCP server. Its tools create a site, write a popup, check it for mistakes, publish it and read the answers back.
Every popup also has a builder link. It opens the same popup in a visual editor, so you can change the text, the fields or the trigger yourself without asking the agent.
On your site there is one small script, e.js, about 5 kB. It knows which popups belong to your site and when to show them. The part that actually draws a popup only downloads when one is about to appear.
Anything people type into a popup is saved. Your agent can read the answers with get_answers, and the dashboard can export them as a CSV file.
You don’t need an account
The tools work without signing in. A site you create this way is kept for seven days. If you want to keep it, sign in on the dashboard and claim the site with the manage token you got when it was created.
Where to go next
Start with Agent setup to connect your agent. It takes a minute. Then follow the Quickstart to get your first popup live.
